SUVCW sealPicacho Peak Camp #1, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, is the only group in the State of Arizona whose members can claim lineage from those who fought for the Union Army in the Civil War, 1861-1865. The Camp takes its name from the only Civil War skirmish fought in the boundaries of the State, at Picacho Pass, Pinal County, on April 15, 1862.

Membership in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is open to all those who can prove descent from a member of the Union forces. Associate membership is open to anyone interested in the Civil War, regardless of lineage.

Picacho Peak Camp #1 meets quarterly at noon on Saturdays at Deer Valley Airport Restaurant, 702 W. Deer Valley Rd., Phoenix. Our 2016 meetings are scheduled for February 13, May 14, August 13 , and November 12. All persons interested in the Civil War are invited to attend. Each meeting features a presentation by one of our members or an invited guest, on a topic related to the Civil War.

The Camp also publishes a quarterly newsletter, registers graves of Civil War veterans buried in Arizona, participates in historical and patriotic events, and provides educational presentations to schools and libraries.

We plan to establish additional camps in Southern Arizona and Northern Arizona in 2015, to better serve all of our membership.  Contact us if you would like information on these new camps.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the SUVCW, please visit and read the SUVCW National Headquarters Membership page to see if you meet membership eligibility. For more information about membership please attend one of our meetings or contact us.
